On the 20th November BEAT REDEMPTION in Bournemouth is 2 years old! To celebrate BR have teamed up with TECTONIC to bring one of dub music’s originators to The Old Fire Station for a night of soul shaking sounds. The legendary SCIENTIST will return to UK shores to for a rare performance that that will see him play alongside PINCH, MALA & SGT POKES (with support from DUFFSTEP LIVE and a host of BEAT REDEMPTION DJs) for what will undoubtedly be an unforgettable night of bass heavy beats.

Scientist is in the UK to promote his new album which sees him remix original tracks by the likes of Pinch, Kode9 & Spaceape and Shackleton.

A veritable who’s-who of dubstep numbering the aforementioned plus Mala, Loefah, King Midas Sound, Distance, RSD, Jack Sparrow, Armour (Roly Vex’d) and Cyrus, have produced all-new material for the album, which will be out soon on Tectonic – the respected Bristol-based label operated by Pinch.

Scientist is the alter ego of Kingston, Jamaica’s Hopeton Brown, former protégé of dub originator King Tubby. Now in his fiftieth year, Scientist has had an illustrious career, learning the ropes at Tubby’s studio before becoming principal engineer at Channel One Studios in the late 1970s. In 1982 he moved to Washington, D.C., concentrating on his solo career, which includes album releases such as King Of Dub, Scientist Wins The World Cup and most recently Dub 911 (2006).
