Music Genre: R&B

About R&B music

In the US in the 1940’s this Genre of music was named Rhythm and Blues and was popular amongst African Americans. By the 1970’s, the term Rhythm and Blues was being used to describe Soul and Funk. Today, the term ‘R&B’ has replaced the original name and usually refers to Contemporary R&B, which is a modern version of Soul and Funk - which originated as Disco.

The Old Firestation devotes one of its three rooms to Urban Music on the biggest nights of the week and often has guest acts and DJ’s including Trevor Nelson and David Banner
